Prof. Piotr H. Skarżyński in the ‘Długo i Szczęśliwie’ project

News

How sound works, how to care for hearing, and the opportunities offered by modern technology and medical advances — both in otorhinolaryngology and from a holistic perspective — were among the subjects discussed by Prof. Piotr H. Skarżyński, MD, PhD, MSc, with journalist Ewa Kurzyńska in the ‘Długo i Szczęśliwie’ project.

In the new ‘Kompas pacjenta’ (‘Patient’s Compass’) format, Professor Skarżyński explained how to reach undecided patients who have hearing loss but are reluctant to consult specialists:

‘We can spread information and explain what we can do, and it is up to each of us to decide which options to use. Virtually everyone has a chance to hear better. We also know that people who delay seeing a specialist experience mental health problems. Depression, low mood and withdrawal from public life because of their condition are very common.’
