Skarżyński — an otorhinolaryngologist, paediatric otorhinolaryngologist, audiologist, phoniatrician and public health specialist — were appointed to the Council of the National Science Centre on 15 December 2022.
The National Science Centre is a grant agency supporting scientific activity in basic research.
The NCN Council determines priority areas of basic research, research project topics and conditions for funding competitions, and sets the amounts allocated to research in individual disciplines or groups of disciplines.
In more than a decade, the National Science Centre has awarded researchers throughout Poland over 25,000 grants worth almost PLN 12 billion in total. In 2021, more than half of the funding awarded by NCN went to young researchers.
Prof. Piotr H. Skarżyński, MD, PhD, MSc, was appointed to the Council of the National Science Centre by the Minister of Education and Science, Dr Przemysław Czarnek. Council members serve four-year terms.
