At the 20th International Conference of the Polish Pharmacoeconomic Society, Prof. Piotr H. Skarżyński joined a plenary session with leading medical specialists, including Health Minister Adam Niedzielski, PhD in economics.
During the expert panel ‘Quo Vadis — priorities and trends in pharmacoeconomics’, held on the conference’s first day, speakers discussed key pharmacoeconomic trends and healthcare priorities across medical specialties.
Topics included major challenges in oncology, cardiology, neurology, psychiatry and otorhinolaryngology; appropriate levels of funding; the valuation of healthcare services; and the use of artificial intelligence in medicine and health economics. Particularly important were difficult questions about health technology assessment and patients’ role in contemporary decision-making.
Alongside Health Minister Adam Niedzielski and Prof. Piotr H. Skarżyński, the plenary session featured Deputy Health Minister Maciej Miłkowski, Prof. Piotr Rutkowski (President of the Polish Society of Oncology), Prof. Agnieszka Słowik (National Consultant in Neurology), Prof. Jarosław Pinkas (National Consultant in Public Health), Prof. Piotr Gałecki (National Consultant in Psychiatry), Prof. Ewa Lech-Marańda (National Consultant in Haematology), and Prof. Przemysław Mitkowski (President of the Polish Cardiac Society).
‘We discussed the biggest and most important challenges in medicine, considering both global and Polish priorities,’ said Prof. Piotr H. Skarżyński. ‘Discussion among such distinguished specialists was a valuable exchange of experience and insights.’
