The 14th Congress of the European Society of Paediatric Otorhinolaryngology, ESPO 2018, took place in Stockholm in early June under the honorary patronage of Her Majesty the Queen of Sweden. Its theme was ‘Working Together for the Child’.

The ESPO Congress is a leading meeting of paediatric otorhinolaryngology specialists, attracting delegates from many countries outside Europe and giving it a prestigious global character. The ESPO2018 organising committee, led by Ann Hermansson and Georgios Papatziamos, prepared a rich scientific programme. For four days, young and experienced clinicians and researchers from around the world shared the latest knowledge and clinical experience.

Invited guests from Poland included Associate Professor Piotr H. Skarżyński, MD, PhD. He delivered a specially invited lecture, ‘Low-trauma surgery and structure preservation in children’, and joined the cochlear implant round table ‘Non straight forward Pediatric CI candidates and sers’. Eva Karltorp chaired and Natalie Loundon moderated the discussion, which also included Nader Nassif presenting research on CMV screening, Milan Profant and Natacha Teissier.

The European Society of Paediatric Otorhinolaryngology promotes high-quality care for children with ENT disorders in Europe. Founded in 1994, it replaced the European Working Group in Paediatric Otorhinolaryngology (EWGPO). ESPO is a non-profit organisation devoted exclusively to scientific, educational and charitable activities. Its congress is held every two years and is recognised as one of the field’s foremost medical meetings.
