Prof. Piotr H. Skarżyński, MD, PhD, MSc, President of the International Advisory Board (IAB) of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS), has been re-elected to the Academy’s prestigious Hearing Committee. The committee provides a platform for exchanging experience and disseminating knowledge about the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of hearing disorders and healthy hearing habits among specialists in these fields. Prof. Piotr H. Skarżyński is the only Pole serving on the governing bodies and committees of AAO-HNS.
Prof. Piotr H. Skarżyński has been scientifically involved with AAO-HNS since 2010. He began by attending international courses on diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation in otorhinolaryngology (Boston 2010, Washington 2012). In 2018–2019, he served on the Hearing Committee, followed by the Implantable Hearing Devices Committee and the Otology & Neurotology Education Committee (2021–2022). In 2021, he was selected as a Goodwill Ambassador representing Poland at the AAO-HNSF 2021 Annual Meeting & OTO Experience (2021). In 2019, the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery recognised his outstanding work on the Hearing Committee.
He actively participates in AAO-HNS community meetings, including the Annual Meeting & OTO Experience (Nashville 2023, Philadelphia 2022, Los Angeles 2021, online in 2020, New Orleans 2019 and Atlanta 2018), and training events, including the AAO-HNS Global Ground Rounds event of 12 February on Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps & Biologics (2022), Global Grand Rounds – From UPPP to Neurostimulation (2021), and AAO-HNSF Global Grand Rounds: Avoiding and Managing Complications in Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (2021).
