Dr hab. Piotr H. Skarżyński, MD, PhD, gave an interview on tinnitus to polskatimes.pl.
The Director of the Institute of Sensory Organs and Scientific Secretary of the International Tinnitus Seminar and 1st World Tinnitus Congress stressed that tinnitus is an increasing problem. Studies indicate it affects between more than ten and 35% of school-age children and approximately 60% of people over 60. Half of children with tinnitus also have symptoms suggestive of ADHD. A direct correlation with depression and social withdrawal has also been identified. Patients experiencing the first signs of depression or social isolation alongside tinnitus should receive tinnitus therapy immediately.
