Prof. Piotr H. Skarżyński, MD, PhD, MSc, together with Prof. Henryk Skarżyński, MD, PhD, holder of multiple honorary doctorates, Natalia Czajka, MD, PhD, and Prof. Danuta Raj-Koziak, MD, PhD, received a special award at IPAC 2025 in Istanbul.
The award is unique because it was handmade by young cochlear implant users from a school in Istanbul. The entirely ceramic work, which had already won second place in the ‘Oral presentations’ category, symbolises the transition from a world of silence to a world of sound through cochlear implants. It was presented to the doctors in gratitude for making that experience possible.
IPAC 2025, the 2nd International Paediatric Audiology Congress, took place on 4–6 April 2025 in Istanbul, jointly with the 15th International EURO-CIU Symposium, under the theme ‘Bridging Gaps in Paediatric Audiology’. It brought together audiologists, researchers and clinicians from around the world to explore the latest advances in paediatric audiology.
