Prof. Piotr H. Skarżyński received the Silver ‘Sapientia et Veritas — Meritorious for Polish Science’ Medal (Latin for ‘wisdom and truth’), joining distinguished scientists honoured for exceptional services to higher education and science, including outstanding scientific, teaching or organisational achievements. The medal was awarded during the ‘Science for Society’ Congress, held on 3–5 June 2023 in Warsaw.
The inaugural congress was co-organised by the Main Council of Research Institutes, Warsaw University of Technology, the Łukasiewicz Research Network, the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing and the Educational Research Institute, with scientists from institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences and universities. Its main aim was to present implemented achievements of Polish scientific institutions that significantly affect the development of contemporary society in Poland.
Participants attended substantive debates alongside exhibitions by scientific institutions showcasing recent scientific achievements. A health village offered various medical services and presented innovative solutions introduced into healthcare. The programme also included mobile themed educational exhibitions and demonstrations of the latest solutions and technologies.
