The European Congress of Innovative Solutions for Rural Areas and Agriculture, POLSKA WIEŚ XXI, took place in Warsaw on 19–20 April 2023. On the ‘Health policy in rural areas’ panel, experts including Prof. Piotr H. Skarżyński, MD, PhD, MSc, discussed the current healthcare situation and access to medical care for rural residents. They proposed practical solutions to eliminate or reduce problems in Poland’s healthcare system.
Hearing screening in children revealed various hearing abnormalities in many participants:
‘Statistically, half of the children with hearing loss had repeated a school year at least once, meaning their development had been delayed. To prevent educational exclusion, screening should therefore take place at the start of schooling, in the first year of primary school,’ explained Prof. Piotr H. Skarżyński.
